Ericofon in Solidworks

I just had to it. It has been standing on my shelf for some years, originally belonging to my family – and the phone I grew up with. Designed and manufactured by Ericsson from the early 50′s, it has been a design icon for over 50 years. When launched, it must have been perceived as a very innovative design compared to its black bakelite cousins of that era. As Apple’s IPhone is about to become these days, the Ericofon was a huge inspiration for contemporary telephone designers.

This is a Solidworks model I made of the phone – although not 100% visually accurate compared to the original, and not parametric all over, it shows the very nice surfacing capabilities of Solidworks.

Rendered in Hypershot.
